ED's Message

On behalf of Environmental Management for Livelihood Improvement Bwaise Facility, I welcome you to our website. The website shows our contribution and inputs towards achieving environmental sustainability. Recognizing that human beings have the capacity to damage, knowingly or unknowingly, our ecosystems have been put under severe pressure and our natural capital is becoming more depleted. Issues such as environmental governance, climate change, deforestation, unsustainable exploitation and depletion of biological resources, drought and desertification, hazardous chemicals and waste management are addressed in our programme of action.
We have confronted the above underlying issues through strengthening ties with international, regional, and national organizations thus by registering with UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and our accreditation is yet to be approved, we are accreditated to The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and the UNEP Carbon Neutral Network. We have international accessibility to environmental information (publications from UNEP,UNDP and The World Bank) and have participated in international environmental decision making meetings such as the recent Global Civil Society Forum (10 GCSF) and 25th session of General Council/Global Environment Ministerial Forum (25 GC/GMEF) and at national level, we have raised public awareness and actively participated in implementation of development programmes in Uganda.
As we struggle to achieve sustainable development, we need to utilize the emergence of the younger generation with a clear sense of optimism, solidarity and values with enhanced and active role in society.
Together, we can reduce poverty without degrading the environment, better integrate environmental considerations in economic policy and realize the vision of sustainable development.
It is our commitment to realise this Vision, together yes we can.

Robert Bakiika,
D/Executive Director |
